ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Running back Willis McGahee showed he's capable of being a starter. Linebacker Takeo Spikes showed he could deliver on his victory vow.

Should the Bills stick with Willis McGahee as their starting running back?
The Bills need to settle on one guy, and McGahee made a nice case for himself this week. He ran the ball aggressively and used his stiff arm very well. This was a major opportunity for him and he seized it.
But as much as the Bills need to find a running back and stick with him, they have bigger problems in their protection scheme. They aren't doing a good job protecting QB Drew Bledsoe, and that's the key to their offense. If they don't block well, they won't be able to compete no matter who's back there running the ball. Game notes
The win pleased Bills owner Ralph Wilson, coming on his 86th birthday and a week after he criticized the team's ball control offense as boring. "Am I happy with smashmouth football? Today, yes," Wilson said. ... A 30 mph wind out of the west was a major factor. All the scoring through three quarters took place at the east end of the field, and the wind knocked down Buffalo kicker Rian Lindell's 43-yard field goal attempt, which barely even made it to the goal line. Lindell hit a 43-yarder with the wind, and a 20-yarder into it. ... O.J. Simpson was spotted watching the game inside a private suite.
