IRVING, Texas (AP) -- From Terrell Owens talking about his broken ring finger and upcoming surgery to Bill Parcells saying he felt "sick" because of how many penalties and other mistakes his team made, the Dallas Cowboys' locker room was a somber place.

| Terry Glenn scored on a 40-yard pass from Drew Bledsoe just seven seconds into the fourth quarter, giving Dallas a commanding 24-10 lead. Mike Vanderjagt tacked on a 50-yard field goal to make it 27-10. | Game ball goes to ... |
| Glenn, who had six catches for 94 yards and a score for Dallas. In addition to his touchdown, Glenn set up two others for the Cowboys, who moved to 1-1 and sent the archrival Redskins to an 0-2 start for the first time since 2001, when Washington opened 0-5. | Scouts Inc.'s take ... |
| This was an ugly game, with the teams totaling 20 penalties. The Cowboys offense moved the ball but Drew Bledsoe was plagued by dropped passes by open receivers, which stalled promising drives. The Cowboys defense got pressure on Mark Brunell and was able to shut down the Redskins receivers. The Redskins offense struggled to put the ball in the end zone for the second straight week. Its only score was a 100-yard kickoff return by Rock Cartwright. The Redskins didn't look good again. |
Game notes
Jones ran 20 times for 94 yards. Washington, playing without injured Clinton Portis, got 40 yards from Ladell Betts and 24 from T.J. Duckett in his season debut. ... Cartwright's TD was the first kickoff return against the Cowboys since Robert Brooks did it for Green Bay in October 1993. ... Washington was last 0-2 under Joe Gibbs in 1989, the fourth-to-last year in his first stint.
