Ralph Wilson Stadium, Buffalo, NY
|Scouts Inc's take ...|
Going into this game, the expectation was that veteran Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson would manage the game, not make mistakes and lead his team to victory.
Instead, it was Bills QB J.P. Losman (above) who played that role. Minnesota's defensive unit has been exceptional, but Losman took advantage of the Vikings' aggressive attitude by baiting them into penalties.
Not only did Losman take advantage of untimely Minnesota penalties, but he also enjoyed excellent play from his receivers and made good decisions all afternoon. Minnesota's offense never could establish the running game, their protection was faulty and Johnson made uncharacteristic mistakes.
|The Lions announced that their game Oct. 8 at Minnesota will be moved to Monday night, Oct. 9, if the American League divisional series between Minnesota and Oakland goes to a fifth game, which would be played Sunday.|
Bills OG Chris Villarrial (right ankle sprain) didn't return after being hurt in the second quarter. ... Minnesota SS Darren Sharper (bruised thigh) didn't return after being hurt in the second half. ... Security was increased with Sen. Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Clinton, attending the game. They sat in team owner Ralph Wilson's suite. ... Former Bills receiver Andre Reed, who ranks sixth in the NFL with 13,198 career yards receiving, had his name placed on the Bills' Wall of Fame during a halftime ceremony.
