INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Just call him Patient Peyton.
With Buffalo content to slow down the Indianapolis Colts up-tempo offense, a restrained Manning relied on short throws, an effective ground game and a time-consuming final drive to lead the Indianapolis Colts past Buffalo 17-16 on Sunday -- and into the NFL record book.| Scouts Inc.'s take ... |
|---|
The Colts had twice as many yards and first downs as the Bills, but the game was tight in the fourth quarter. Indianapolis did a nice job moving the chains with the ground game and the air attack, but turnovers hurt and kept this game closer than it should have been. The Buffalo offensive tackles had a tough time blocking Indy's bookend defensive rushers (Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney) and keeping pressure off QB J.P. Losman (above). The Indianapolis defense did enough to keep the Buffalo offense out of the end zone and scrape out a victory on a day the Indy offense was subpar.
