CLEVELAND (AP) -- Once again, Big Ben struck right on time.Ben Roethlisberger shoveled a 4-yard touchdown pass to Willie Parker with 32 seconds left, rallying the Steelers to a 24-20 win over the Cleveland Browns, who were minutes away from kicking the defending Super Bowl champions into the AFC North basement.
|Scouts Inc.'s take ...|
The Steelers' disciplined defensive line and linebackers had their way with Cleveland's blockers and were solid in their gap responsibilities, making running room scarce. Still, the Browns dominated the time of possession early due to the Steelers throwing three interceptions. Continually playing from behind, Pittsburgh became one-dimensional on offense.
The Browns' defense eliminated the run game with some eight-man fronts and stout play from their defensive front. Ben Roethlisberger (above) then stepped up his game out of the shotgun, displaying accuracy and the ability to spread the ball to many weapons in the Steelers' down-to-the-wire victory in Cleveland.
Wimbley's 6 1-2 sacks are the most by a Browns rookie. Michael Dean Perry had six sacks in 1988. ... Browns RB Reuben Droughns sat out with a sprained right foot. His replacement, Jason Wright, had 74 yards on 18 carries. ... The Steelers picked up 19 first down in the fourth quarter.
