Game notes
The Giants became just the third team in NFL history with 600 regular-season wins. They are 600-502-33 in franchise history, following Chicago and Green Bay. ... Atlanta reached 100 yards rushing for the first time this season, largely because of Norwood's big run. Starter Warrick Dunn was held to 15 yards on eight carries. ... Atlanta DT Rod Coleman played his first game of the season but wasn't much of a factor with three tackles.

Scouts Buzz
It was execution along with a good run game that paved the way for a solid win for the Giants in Atlanta. In the second quarter, the Giants lined up in maximum protection, with two tight ends and two receivers out wide and a single back behind quarterback Eli Manning for a first-and-10 play from the Atlanta 43. A solid ground game forced safety Lawyer Milloy to bite on Manning's play-action fake, which was all WR Plaxico Burress needed to get behind the secondary of Atlanta. Manning hit Burress on his post route for a 43-yard touchdown that put the Giants up 21-10, and that was all they needed en route to a 31-10 win. This is why a strong ground game makes the play-action pass such a dangerous weapon. Manning connected on all five passes, with two touchdowns, off the play-action fake in the first half.
