Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, MO
Bruce caught four passes for 31 yards to give him 14,911, passing Cris Carter for fifth place on the career list. ... The Rams have been outscored 192-66 in the second half, including 111-37 in the fourth quarter. They have an edge of 130-105 in the first half. ... Horn, who missed three games with a strained hamstring, caught four passes for 38 yards.
St. Louis played a solid defensive game, particularly early on. Because he trusted his cornerbacks, Jim Haslett was aggressive and called blitzes to disrupt Joey Harrington and the Falcons' passing game. Haslett utilized a lot of 3-3-5 looks against Atlanta's multiple receiver sets to give his defense more options. Usually he blitzed heavily, but sometimes he brought only three pass rushers to keep Harrington off balance. The Rams' defense hurried and hit Harrington repeatedly, making him noticeably uncomfortable in the pocket. He eventually was pulled in favor of Chris Redman. Will Witherspoon stuck out with his versatility and playmaking ability. He is playing at a Pro Bowl level in all facets of his game and has added the ability to rush the passer off the edge to his repertoire.
