Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, OH
After lighting up the scoreboard in Week 2 vs. the Bengals, the Browns offense fell back to earth, producing nearly 200 fewer yards and three additional turnovers in Sunday's return match in Cincinnati.
Anderson now has 28 touchdown passes, tied with Brian Sipe (1979) for third most in club history. Frank Ryan had 29 in 1966, and Sipe had 30 in 1980. ... TE Kellen Winslow had seven catches for 73 yards, putting him over 1,000 yards for the first time. Along with Edwards, the Browns have their first pair of 1,000-yard receivers in team history. Winslow is the seventh Browns receiver to reach the mark. ... Shayne Graham kicked his 29th and 30th field goals, passing Doug Pelfrey for the Bengals record. He is 30-of-33 on the season. ... Safeties Dexter Jackson (calf) and Madieu Williams (thigh) were inactive. ... RT Willie Anderson returned after missing eight games with a left knee injury.
With heavy winds affecting the passing and kicking games, Cincinnati was saved by its rushing game and Kenny Watson. Cleveland entered the game short on defensive linemen and was completely undermanned in the front three. As a result, the Browns often brought an extra defender near the line of scrimmage, but Watson still made them pay. Meanwhile, Derek Anderson simply imploded in the last two minutes of the first half, throwing two awful interceptions that led to 13 Cincinnati points. Anderson locked on to receivers, and his decision-making and accuracy were seriously problematic. In a game littered with turnovers, Cleveland -- and Anderson in particular -- made more mistakes.
