Game notes
Oakland's Shane Lechler set a single-season record for net punting. Lechler averaged 41.1 net yards per punt, narrowly edging San Francisco's Andy Lee at 41.0. The previous record was 39.9 by Mike Horan of the New York Giants in 1993. ... Olshansky's interception was the first of his four-year career.

Scouts Buzz
The San Diego Chargers clearly wanted to lock up the No. 3 seed in the AFC as they played most of their starters for much of the contest. The normally poor run defense of the Raiders crowded the line of scrimmage with some eight-man fronts and zone run blitzes to stop LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers’ ground attack, but San Diego QB Philip Rivers was able to exploit the Raiders’ secondary on all levels of the field. High-profile Oakland rookie QB JaMarcus Russell improved as the contest progressed but clearly needs better timing, footwork, weight transfer and experience to become a consistent signal-caller in the NFL.
