Research Notes
Philip Rivers had 431 passing yards in the Chargers loss to the Raiders. It is the 2nd game this season that Rivers has thrown for over 430 yards and lost (also Sept 26 at Seattle, 455 yards). The only other QB since 1960 with two games in a season that they passed for over 430 yards AND lost was Phil Simms in 1985.
It also his 3rd career game with at least 430 passing yards that he lost (also 9/20/09 vs Baltimore, 436 yards). That is the 2nd-most by any QB since 1960. The only other QB with more since 1960 is Dan Marino, who has 4 such games. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Malcom Floyd becomes the 2nd person to have over 200 receiving yards this season, joining the enigmatic Terrell Owens of the Bengals. Ironically, both players lost that game. Going back to last season, the last 4 players to have over 200 yards receiving, all lost. [+]200 CLUB, NOT SO NICE
