Larry Foote SELECTED BY NEW ENGLAND , ROUND 4, PICK 32, OVERALL PICK 128 LB | (6-0, 231, 4.84) | Michigan By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Plays inside in college but projects to the weak side on the next level. Lettered as a true freshman in 1998, when he was in on 17 stops and had a sack. Played in 12 games and started four in '99, when he had 29 stops, including seven for loss and three sacks, broke up two passes, picked off one and recovered a fumble. Started in 2000 and was a second-team All-Big Ten pick. Had 84 tackles, including 10 for loss and one sack, picked off two passes, broke up eight and recovered a fumble. All-Big Ten and won Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in some polls in 2001, when he had 73 stops, including an incredible 26 for loss and six sacks. Also broke up six passes.Positives: Fine athlete. Quick and agile. Runs and moves around very well. Instinctive. Does a very nice job of slipping blockers and getting into the backfield. Can run and cover a back. Productive football player.Negatives: Lacks size and is not very good at taking on and shedding blockers. Needs to be protected by the people in front of him or in a scheme where he is uncovered. Will miss a few tackles in the open field. Did not run nearly as well as expected at the CombineSummary: Is a lot like former Michigan LB Ian Gold but may not be as explosive or gifted. Will need to run much better or will drop way down in the draft.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
