By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played as an 18-year-old true freshman before breaking his ankle in Game Eight. Started every game in 2000 and led the team with 76 tackles. Also registered seven tackles for loss, three sacks, five passes broken up and an interception. Missed two starts and one game (suspended for missing a meeting) in '01, when he had 54-7-0-1-3. Started at both cornerback and safety in '02 and had 53 stops, 10 passes broken up and three interceptions.

Positives: Excellent size-speed ratio. Has played both corner and safety and has very good coverage skills for a safety, though he'll get beat at times when the ball is in the air. As a cornerback, is very physical and effective running receivers off of the thier routes. Could be a nickel cornerback. Has upside potential if he starts to see the big picture. Isn't a sure tackler.

Negatives: Not an instinctive player. Takes poor angles, struggles in coverage and misses too many tackles. Is a straight-line runner and a late reactor who does not play to his timed speed. Doesn't read keys quickly. Knows where the ball is, but will bite on fakes and misdirection plays regularly.

Summary: Size-speed guy who could be a player if the light goes on for him, and somebody may use him as a special-teams player and ninth defensive back for a couple of years to see if it does.
