Terrence Kiel

SELECTED BY CAROLINA , ROUND 2, PICK 30, OVERALL PICK 62
DB | (5-11, 204, 4.5) | Texas A&M
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Lettered in 1999, when he was in on nine tackles and had zero passes broken up or intercepted. Second-team All-Big 12 safety in '00, when he was in on 57 stops and picked off four passes. Leading tackler in '01 with 92, including a team-best 65 solos, in addition to breaking up five passes and picking off one. Led team in tackles in '02 with 95, 5½ tackles for loss, 1½ sacks, three interceptions, six passes broken up and one forced fumble.

Positives: Keys and diagnoses. Solid in run support. Good tackler. Strong and physical. Very good in the box. Leader who gives good effort. Plays like a linebacker.

Negatives: Lacks some speed, range and ball reaction skills. Tight in turns and will lose a good step in transition. Average speed and change of direction. Better in zone than man-on-man.

Summary: More of an in-the-box type of safety for a team that plays a lot of zone. Intangibles could help him make a team.
