Hanik Milligan

SELECTED BY SAN FRANCISCO , ROUND 6, PICK 23, OVERALL PICK 188
DB | (6-2, 201, 4.48) | Houston
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Born in Virgin Islands but played high school football in Florida. Attended Garden City Community College in 1998 but took an injury redshirt. Played at Iowa Central Community College in '99. Instant starter and impact player since coming to Houston in 2000. Had 87 tackles, broke up eight passes and had five interceptions in '00, and posted 174-4-1 in '01. Started all 12 games in '02 and led the team in tackles with 149. Also broke up seven passes, intercepted one and had four tackles for loss.

Positives: Very good size. Exceptional in run support and is a good tackler near the line of scrimmage. Big-time hitter and contact player who likes to go for the kill shot. Good strength. Shows a burst.

Negatives: Is better in zone than man-to-man coverage. Has some trouble tackling in space and is better near the line of scrimmage. Struggles to learn. Bites on play-action and will overrun some plays. Is too aggressive. Reads run too slow. Plays free safety like he is a strong safety.

Summary: A good run-support safety who should be a great special-teams player. A lights-out hitter, but must improve in space and become well-schooled in coverage.
