Ralph Parent

S | (6-0, 200, 4.9) | Boston College
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: (*Ran 4.9 on timing day in '02 but arrived late, did not warm up and just seemed to go through the motions. Off the VCR, looks like he can run 4.6 and there is no way he is a 4.9 player.) Redshirted in 1998. Backup in '99 and has started the past three years. Had seven stops in '99 and scored on a blocked punt. Had 54 tackles, four passes broken up and three interceptions in 2000; 75-4-1 in '01; and 99-5-4 in '02. Has played both free and strong safety.

Positives: Has good size, is athletic and can make the big hit and be a little intimidating. Has some man cover skills and shows awareness and range in the zone. Has been durable and can play either safety position.

Negatives: Must run a lot faster time if he is to be drafted. Is an inconsistent hitter and competitor, whose mind may drift at times and who may lose focus. May not have football at the top of his priority list.

Summary: Will have a good chance to make it, if he will really commit to the game.
