By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: High school All-American. Played every game as an 18-year-old freshman in 1999 and had 17 tackles, broke up one pass and had one interception. Got his first start in 2000, when he had 37 tackles and was used more like a linebacker. Played in nine games and started five in '01. Had 36 tackles but, for the second straight year, did not break up or intercept a pass. Played in every game in '02, his first as a full-time starter, and was fourth on the team with 71 tackles. Also had three tackles for loss, four interceptions, broke up seven passes and forced and recovered a fumble.Positives: A hybrid LB-SS who improved his pass defense immensely over the last year. Has good athletic ability and is quick to support and can handle press coverage. He has quick feet, changes direction well, reads and reacts in zone and has very good ball skills. Instinctive. Is a leader in all aspects. Negatives: Has average speed, acceleration and recovery speed. Choppy backpedal and is too aggressive in the open field at times, which causes him to miss tackles. Lacks suddenness. Lacks great change of direction.Summary: Helped himself with a strong senior showing but still must improve his speed and technique. Could be a first-day pick if he does.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
