Jamal Wallace

FS | (5-11, 186, 4.55) | Temple
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Prop 48 in 1998. Played in 10 games and started four at wide receiver in '99, catching 26 passes for 246 yards. Started every game on defense in 2000 and '01 and had 91 tackles, broke up seven passes and picked off one pass in 2000, and had 77-4-1 in '01. Not at Temple in spring '02, when he was in junior college trying to become eligible to play for the Owls in the fall. Played 12 games in '02, leading the team with 96 tackles (65 solo), including four tackles for loss, one interception, five passes broken up and one forced fumble.

Positives: Fluid athlete who will hit and has good hands for a defensive back.

Negatives: Lacks size. Can be fooled and pulled out of position. Takes inconsistent angles to the ball. Will lose a good step in transition. Lacks smooth change-of-direction ability and is a better hitter than tackler.

Summary: Undersized, but productive safety who will need to stand out on special teams.
