DE | (6-4, 265, 4.9) | Bowie State
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: A married man and a father. Went to Marshall in 1997 but was not cleared to play until later in the year and chose to redshirt. Transferred to Independence (Kan.) Community College after the year. Did not play football at Independence in '98 but played in '99. Came to Bowie State in 2000, had to fulfill residency requirements and sat out the year. Started all 10 games in '01 at Bowie and recorded 73 tackles, including 17 for loss, and seven sacks. Also has been the sixth man on the basketball team. In '02 Alston had 91 tackles and seven sacks.Positives: Has good size, speed and athletic ability. Can run and get up the field and has a lot of room to improve.Negatives: Limited football background and has not faced much in the way of competition. Is a good but not dominating player on his level (Division II). Must learn to play lower with better pad level, improve the use of his hands and develop some moves.Summary: Is a long way off, but he would be a nice free agent who might come on after a year on the development squad and a season in NFL Europe. * Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
