By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Didn't start but played extensively as a redshirt freshman in 1999. Started the last three games in 2000 and every game in '01 and '02, when he won All-Western Athletic Conference honors. Has never missed a game with an injury. Recorded 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks, six passes broken up and an interception return for a touchdown in '99. In 2000, had 40-9-2-1-0 and 38-12-7-0-0 in '01. Burley played with a cast covering a broken left thumb he had surgery on in '02 and registered 71-18-10-0-0.Positives: Natural pass rusher with an explosive first and second step off the line. Quick hands and quick feet. Good balance and body control. Plays with good knee-bend and leverage. Is quicker than his timed speed and will drop into coverage. Dean's-list student who is also aware and alert on the field.Negatives: Too small to play defensive end on the next level and may not have the speed or experience to play linebacker unless he is a rush 'backer in a 3-4. Gets smothered by most big tackles if he has to play over them. Has a hard time shedding blocks. Lacks closing speed in long pursuit.Summary: Classic tweener who is best-suited to play rush 'backer in a 3-4.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
