Aubrayo Franklin

SELECTED BY TAMPA BAY , ROUND 5, PICK 14, OVERALL PICK 146
DT | (6-1, 307, 5.0) | Tennessee
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Transferred from Itawamba Junior College (Miss.). Was a linebacker in high school. Played in 12 games in 2001 at Tennessee but did not start. Made 14 tackles, zero tackles for loss and zero sacks. Played in 12 games in '02, starting last seven, making 50-5-2.

Positives: Short, stocky, powerful player who is good vs. the run. Very productive and gives good effort. Improved leverage and ability to shed blocks. May have been the best player on the Vols' defense late in the year. Plays behind the line of scrimmage and has good quickness.

Negatives: Lacks height and pass-rushing skills. Not real polished or savvy when it comes to shrinking to get through holes. Lacks explosiveness.

Summary: Went from the shadows of John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth (both first-round picks in '02) to a player that should get late-round consideration because of a very strong second-half showing. Flashes better quickness than Haynesworth and might fit with a team that doesn't require mammoth run stuffers inside.
