By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Super Prep All-American in high school. Played in every game as a true, 18-year-old freshman in 1999 and started once. Started every game in 2000 and '01. Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference selection in '01, when he led the Tide in sacks for the second year in a row. Suffered a slight tear of his medial collateral ligament in March '02 but came back to start in the fall. Had 18 stops, two tackles for loss and two sacks in 1999; 64-14-7 in 2000; 54-5-9 in '01; and 54-4-5 in '02.Positives: Very tough, tenacious, bulldog type who has a great motor and is instinctive, aware, fairly quick and agile and very disruptive inside. Uses hands well to shed blockers. Has a country-boy mentality and a square frame. Overachiever who was more physical this year.Negatives: Lacks great body mass for a tackle and needs to be in a one-gap scheme. Is not overly athletic or gifted. Is strong for his size, but not for an NFL tackle. Had disappointing strength-test numbers and a poor 40 time at the Scouting Combine. Can't split the double team.Summary: Great intangibles and motor make him a probable first-day guy. Should make a team and contribute. Could be a starter in a three- or four-DT rotation.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
