Clint Mitchell

SELECTED BY PHILADELPHIA , ROUND 7, PICK 26, OVERALL PICK 227
DE | (6-6, 257, 4.93) | Florida
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Left school with one year of eligibility remaining. Started 20-of-26 career games, and his junior season was by far his best showing. He had 78 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Positives: Looks like he's on stilts and doesn't lose leverage against bulk size. Is fluid, quick, and wants to play every down. Anticipates and contains well. Has refined pass-rush moves and will outmaneuver tackles because he is well-prepared. Could play defensive tackle if he got a little bigger.

Negatives: Must add bulk to hold his position at the point of attack against the run. Has good speed but is not as sudden as scouts would like. Upper-body strength had a mere 16 reps of 225 at the Scouting Combine is lacking and could be the missing ingredient keeping him from taking the next step.

Summary: Is probably a late second- or early third-round pick who has a spot in the NFL. However, another year of dedicated work and strength conditioning in Gainesville would have made Mitchell a first-round lock next year.
