Dennis Quinn

DE | (6-3, 270, 5.0) | South Carolina
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Top backup as a redshirt freshman in 1999. Started all but one game in 2000 and eight of the nine in which he played in '01. Missed three games with a knee injury and scope. Had 20 tackles and four tackles for loss in '99; 38-3, two sacks, four passes broken up and two interceptions in 2000; 29-3-2-1-0 in '01; and 22 tackles and three sacks in '02.

Positives: Tough, intense, durable, quick off the ball. Has good football intelligence and intangibles, a burst to close and very good use of his strong, explosive hands. Can hold point and is a good, explosive, strong and physical tackler who will move to beat blockers. Agile and plays with leverage and functional strength. Chases. has a high motor and does what he is coached to do.

Negatives: Lacks moves to rip and swim as well as a run-stopping mentality. Has long speed, but some burst and surge. Plays on the line of scrimmage and thinks run. Was overpowered vs. New Mexico State, struggles getting skinny vs. size and needs to improve as a pass rusher.

Summary: A late pick or free agent who is not special but has up side.
