Byron Hardmon

MLB | (6-1, 232, 4.76) | Florida
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played as a freshman in 1999. Part-time starter in 2000 and '01. Started the first two games at "Will" 'backer in '02 and the last 10 in the middle. Had three stops and two passes broken up in '99; 44-4 and two interceptions in 2000; 42-2-0 in '01 and 156-3-1 in '02.

Positives: Really came on after moving to middle linebacker. Does a good job of sifting through the congestion and making plays. Is active and aggressive, plays with good leverage and has good instincts.

Negatives: Is not very stout at the point of attack. Lacks size, upper-body strength and is not going to take on and control the blocker or stuff the play. Must be protected by his tackles to be effective. Looks just average in coverage and appears to not have a very good feel for man-on-man coverage.

Summary: The move to middle linebacker really helped him and improved his chances quite a bit.
