![]() | ![]() Victor Hobson SELECTED BY SEATTLE , ROUND 2, PICK 21, OVERALL PICK 53 LB | (6-0, 252, 4.85) | Michigan By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Redshirted in 1998 and has played in every game the past four years. Started five games in '99, 10 games in 2000 and 11 games in '01. Numbers have improved every year. Had 40 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack and zero passes broken up and zero interceptions as a redshirt freshman; 58-12-3-2-0 in 2000; and 80-13-5-0-0 in '01, when he was a second-team All-Big Ten pick. Started every game in '02 and led the team in tackles with 99-17-6-4-2 and was named All-Big Ten. Positives: Smart, tough and a good leader. Has adequate ability and playing speed. Is much better vs. the run than pass but developed as a blitzer and pass rusher. Instincts are good, as is athletic ability. Is aware in zone coverage. Was the best player on Michigan's defense and an All-American-type playmaker. Has excellent upper-body strength (29 reps of 225) and good pop.Negatives: Must improve lower-body explosion. Looks stiff in drops and gets turned easily in coverage. Can hit but tends to stop his feet after contact with blockers. Doesn't show the consistent power and explosion scouts look for and can get lost in space. Summary: A prospect who lacks top-end speed and needs work in space and in coverage. Hobson is on a lot of boards as a late second- or third-round choice.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly. | ||||||||||
