Jeremy Loyd

LB | (6-1, 235, 4.67) | Iowa State
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Lettered in football, baseball, basketball, track and was active in powerlifting in high school. Went to Tyler Junior College before coming to Iowa State in 2001. Started every game at outside linebacker and was the team's co-Defensive MVP. Had 68 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, two passes broken up and two interceptions. In '02 started 13 games and had 94-11-6 and was an Academic All-American and All-Big 12 second-team selection. Played "Sam" in college but probably will have to be a "Will" in the NFL.

Positives: Very active player who can run with a back or tight end in coverage. Also runs and times well laterally and has long arms. Possesses pretty good, NFL-type speed around the ball. Has been a diligent worker. Top quickness and change-of-direction ability.

Negatives: Doesn't use hands well and really struggles to shed blocks, hold his ground and control the tight end. He is a willing hitter but doesn't break down and wrap up well. Must see it happen before he reacts. Is a little stiff in coverage and plays small. Lacks upper-body strength.

Summary: Smart, productive 'backer who is best playing in space and should find a home in the second half of the draft.
