ILB | (6-1, 236, 4.85) | Washington
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Fifth-year player who originally enrolled at Utah in 1998 after a fine high school career in Mercer Island, Wash., where he also was a wrestling champion in his weight division. Special-teams player and deep-snapper in '99. Started eight-of-11 games at linebacker and also snapped in 2000. Starting ILB and leading tackler in '01. Had 52 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks in 2000 and 85-10-5 with one pass broken up in '01. Was limited in spring coming off of shoulder surgery in '02 and had 100-11½-2 as well as breaking up two passes, intercepting one and recovering two fumbles. Positives: A very alert and aware player who has football intelligence and a feel for coverage. Anticipates well and is explosive when plugging and filling holes. Can also do some long-snapping and gets good velocity on his snaps. Overachiever and good value player who can also play in special-teams coverage.Negatives: Doesn't have the size or speed scouts look for and has a lot of difficulty trying to shed and shed quickly. Gets knocked around at times and struggles sifting his way through traffic. Needs to increase playing strength and add bulk. Lacks the speed and athleticism for "Will" and the size and strength for "Sam."Summary: Best NFL chance is as a long-snapper and specialist.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
