Eddie Moore

SELECTED BY CINCINNATI , ROUND 2, PICK 17, OVERALL PICK 49
LB | (6-0, 237, 4.6) | Tennessee
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played every game the last three years. Saw limited action in 1999. Became a top backup and special-teams star in 2000. Started in '01 despite a shoulder injury he suffered before the start of the season and waited until after the season to undergo surgery. Had three stops in '99; 34 tackles with 16 on special teams in 2000; and 81 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and six passes broken up in '01. Sat out the spring of '02 after undergoing left shoulder surgery. Started 12 games at strong-side linebacker in '02, making 100 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, six passes broken up and three sacks. Missed Peach Bowl while recovering from knee surgery. Named second-team All-Southeastern Conference by the coaches. Knee injury prevented him from running or jumping at the Combine, and Moore chose not to lift.

Positives: Very active and productive vs. the run and pass. Good blitzing and using his hands. Anticipates well with good change of direction. Cuts through traffic and gets good leverage. Has good hips and drop angles. Top special-teams player. Good athletic ability, quickness, agility and balance. Great explosiveness. Plays bigger than he is. Good in space and in drops. Good football intelligence. Calls defensive signals. Plays downhill and flies all over the field.

Negatives: Does not have ideal size for the position, although he plays similar to Derrick Brooks. Overruns plays in the open field.

Summary: Undersized strong safety/weak-side linebacker tweener who might be able to play linebacker in a Tony Dungy type of defensive scheme where the "Will" 'backer is protected and generally playing against air.
