OG | (6-2, 304, 5.14) | Hawaii
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Name is pronounced "MAN-uh-weigh." High school weight man and basketball player. Played in every game in 1999. Started nine games at right guard and two games at right tackle in 2000. Started every game at right guard in '01, made 53 decleaters and won second-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors. Started at right guard last fall, led the team with 60 pancake blocks and allowed just one sack. Was a first-team All-WAC selection and made a number of All-America teams. Had an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl. Positives: Very strong and physical. Excellent leg drive. Powerfully built with strong legs. Similar mold to fellow Hawaiian native and Bears C Olin Kreutz. Agile. Some teams are projecting him as a center, telling him to work on his snapping skills.Negatives: Average athlete who lacks speed and quickness and has short, compact arms. Short reach makes it difficult for him to pass-block vs. defenders with long arms. Was not asked to run block much in college. Summary: Projected as a center and is best-suited to play inside at the next level but played guard and tackle in college. First-day pick with the footwork and tenacity to be a solid NFL starter.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
