Marico Portis

OG | (6-1, 311, 5.43) | Alabama
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Redshirted in 1998, started two of four games in '99 and played in two games in 2000. Started every game in '01 and had six games where he graded out at 100 percent on assignments and finished with 118 knockdown blocks. Set the school's offensive line bench-press record with a 510-pound lift and the incline-press record with a 460-pound lift. Started every game in '02, and had 191 knockdown blocks. Named first-team All-SEC by coaches. Played in the East-West Shrine game.

Positives: Great upper-body strength. Very strong. Good mass. Good run-blocker. High character. Hard worker. Excellent weight room work ethic. No trouble off the field. Great intangibles. Pretty good flexibility. Good quickness and agility. Very good feet. Exceptional consistency. Durable. Can pull and trap. Tenacious. Has a mean streak.

Negatives: Lacks height and speed. Played in a run-dominant offense in college and didn't pass block often. Short arms.

Summary: May not have NFL prototypical size and speed, but his drive, tenacity and consistency could make him last long at the next level.
