RB | (5-6, 175, 4.41) | UTEP
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Redshirted in 1998. Played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman in '99, carrying three times for four yards and had 14 receptions for 91 yards. He also returned 14 kickoffs for 261 yards. In 2000, he ran 101-410 with one touchdown, caught 3-10 and returned 10-189. He carried 103-450-5 and caught 15-149-1 in '01. Rushed 79-284-2 and caught 6-124-2 last season, when he was limited in the first six games of the season with a high-ankle sprain. Positives: Could be a nice change-of-pace back. Is a good receiver out of the backfield and lined up in the slot at times. Is a hard worker and has good toughness for his size. Has quickness to be a punt returner. Was eager to play special teams down the stretch after the coaching staff replaced him at running back with a younger player.Negatives: Lacks size and the ability to withstand a consistent pounding or be a workhorse. Was never tested with 18-20 carries a game. Doesn't catch the ball naturally or outside the frame of his body. Played under 170 pounds at times. Concentration and attention to detail were issues because he felt he knew the offense well enough by his fourth season. Pass-protection technique is fine, but he doesn't have the leverage to do much more than chip pass rushers. Had to feel like he was 100 percent to play a good game. Ball security was a concern and contributed to him being pulled from return game.Summary: Best shot is probably on special teams.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
