Ahmaad Galloway

SELECTED BY NEW YORK , ROUND 7, PICK 34, OVERALL PICK 235
RB | (5-11, 223, 4.7) | Alabama
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Fifth-year player who had played in every game since 1999 until he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in the fourth game of the 2002 season against Southern Mississippi. Before the injury, he carried 58 times for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Team's top rusher in 2000 and '01. Saw limited action in 1999, when he carried 7-33-0. Started seven times in 2000, rushing 137-659-7 and catching four passes for 48 yards. Started all but one game in '01, when he carried 174-881-6 and caught 3-20. Academic All-Southeastern Conference in '01.

Positives: Prior to the injury, he was a tough, durable, north-south power runner who ran with his pads low and level and broke tackles. Had good lean and balance and finished his runs. Much of his yardage comes after initial contact.

Negatives: Will be coming off a serious knee injury and was not very fast to begin with. Lacks creativity, speed, real quickness and make-you-miss as a runner. A chain mover, not a big-play runner. Does not block well enough to project to fullback.

Summary: Was a possible later-round pick before he tore up his knee, and now he will probably be a free agent unless he wows with his recovery.
