Andrew Pinnock

SELECTED BY INDIANAPOLIS , ROUND 7, PICK 28, OVERALL PICK 229
RB | (5-10, 265, 4.7) | South Carolina
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Top player in Connecticut who may have come to South Carolina because of the Skip Holtz connection. Was not cleared by the NCAA to play until the third game of the 1999 season but went on to rush 73 times for 261 yards and three touchdowns and catch two passes for two yards while starting twice as a true freshman. Shared time with Derek Watson in 2000 and '01 and also played fullback. Carried 110-406-7 and caught 5-37 in 2000; and carried 115-622-12 and caught 5-40 in '01. Played in 12 games and rushed for 124-563-5 and caught 16-106 in '02.

Positives: Big, strong, powerful runner who gets to and through the hole quickly and is almost never tackled in the backfield. Has top athletic ability, fine run skills and good to very good feet. Is nifty for his size and very skilled. Can catch and is a very good cut blocker. Very powerful and is effective in goal-line and short-yardage situations. Has good size, is sudden out of his stance and can make the first tackler miss. Can be a load and move the pile when he runs low with his pads down and legs low. Will block to save the quarterback.

Negatives: Is a chronic fumbler and struggles in lead blocking, when he is quick to the point of attack and then stops his feet and doesn't finish. Will block but not with much passion. Has had a problem gaining weight. Plays to size, lacks a burst. Loses concentration, focus and fumbles. Is a straight-up runner who loses leg drive in traffic. Lacks natural hands and a big desire to block. Is not a gifted or natural receiver and needs to spend time catching 200 balls per day. One-back type with long speed.

Summary: Looks a lot like former North Carolina and Chargers star Natrone Means and wants to be a featured back. However, lacks Means' quickness, great feet, agility and run skills.
