RB | (5-9, 225, 4.6) | Mississippi State
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Former high school All-American who was the top recruit in 1999. Carried 76 times for 384 yards and three touchdowns and caught eight passes for 46 yards as a freshman. Had his best season in 2000, carrying 148-795-9, catching 9-73 and returning 11 kickoffs for 294 yards. On a less talented team with QB and OL problems in '01, Walker carried 136-548-5, caught 5-29 and returned nine kickoffs for 184 yards. Came into '02 season out of shape and struggled with knee, ankle and shoulder injuries that limited his playing time. Played in eight games with three starts and carried 57-148-5 with four catches for 31 yards. Positives: He is a powerfully built, low-to-the-ground runner with quick feet and good balance. A durable, bowling-ball type of runner who will bounce off tacklers because he plays with a low center of gravity. Lacks big-play speed, but has a burst to and through the line. Negatives: Is not a make-you-miss type and must run north-south to be effective. Does not look natural catching and will struggle to adjust to the ball. Can block, but only does it when he has to and is inconsistent in that area. Will get sloppy with the ball at times. Doesn't always compete.Summary: Needs to get focused and in top shape if he wants to continue playing football.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
