TE | (6-3, 249, 4.8) | Mississippi State
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Played basketball and ran track in high school. Started three games as a true freshman, eight times in 2000 and all nine games that Mississippi State opened with a tight end (nine) in '01. Caught four passes for 49 yards and a score in 1999; 19-204-1 in 2000; and 16-197-0 in '01. Started 10-of-12 games in '02 and caught 22-161-1. Positives: Durable athlete with nimble feet and fluid movements. Has quickness, agility, balance and good feet. Can be a tenacious blocker who gets into his blocks quickly, has pop and works to sustain. Good leg drive. Runs good pass routes for a tight end and gets good separation underneath. Generally holds on to the ball. Makes good adjustments to the ball and is good in traffic. Is smart and plays bigger and faster than his measurables indicate. Good strength and athleticism. Good in-line blocker on the second level.Negatives: Likes to catch with his body and will double catch. Doesn't have natural hands or a feel for pass blocking. Has become much stronger and isn't always quick to learn. Loses leverage at times and lacks great bulk. Summary: A solid player who could improve in the future and has moved up boards with strong showings at the East-West Shrine Game and Scouting Combine.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
