TE | (6-4, 259, 4.68) | Arizona State
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Redshirted in 1998. Played in eight games on defense in '99 and had six tackles and one for a loss. Moved from defensive end to tight end in 2000. Backed up Todd Heap in 2000 but started four games in which Arizona State opened with two tight ends. Started five games in '01 and every game in '02. Caught six passes for 100 yards with a long of 28 in 2000; 8-158 with one touchdown in '01; and 30-503-5 in '02. Positives: Looks the part, with prototype size and speed. Came on in '02 and improved every year in the program. Runs well for a big man and can catch. Is a decent blocker who can be a pretty good blocker when he wants to be. Is more of a finesse than power blocker, but he can sustain his blocks. Looks like, and has the athleticism to be, a basketball player.Negatives: Career underachiever who should be a lot better than he is. Lacks tenacity, plays too upright, loses leverage as a blocker and will look for the easy way out too often. Has concentration lapses as a receiver. Inconsistent in everything he does. Can be clumsy at times.Summary: Shows flashes of ability but has been a career underachiever with a great deal of talent.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
