Kevin Ware

TE | (6-2, 256, 4.79) | Washington
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played in eight games and started one as a freshman in 1999, making one catch for 22 yards. Sprained ankle early in the fourth game of 2000 and sat out the rest of the season so he could request an injury redshirt year but was turned down. Started eight games in '01, with most of his starts coming when Jerramy Stevens was hurt. Caught seven passes for 102 yards. Moved into starting lineup in '02, catching a career-best 42 passes for 463 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games (including bowl game).

Positives: Team's best in-line, blocking tight end who was tried at offensive guard. Has decent hands and athletic ability. Makes sharp cuts as a route runner and slides to find the hole in zone coverage. Maintains a good base and pad level as a blocker and knows how to get leverage.

Negatives: Is not sudden or fast and lacks the size to be a pure blocking tight end. Doesn't release quickly and does not make the tough catch or catch in traffic. Had some disciplinary problems.

Summary: Has the frame to add weight and must do so to be an NFL tight end.
