James Adkisson

WR | (6-3, 215, 4.4) | South Carolina
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Kemper Military School and College (Mo.) transfer who only played one year of high school football. Earned junior college All-America honors with 59 receptions for 1,375 yards and seven touchdowns. Track athlete who is a sprinter and jumper. Has a team-best 11-6 broad jump and competed in the Southeastern Conference Championships. Started four-of-12 games in 2000, catching 17-227-0. Caught 2-8-0 in two games in '01 before redshirting because of recurring back problems. Competed as jumper and sprinter on track team in spring of '02. Played in just five games in '02 due to knee injuries, catching 9-112-1, rushing 3-43-0 and returning one kick five yards. Healthy now and played in the Hula Bowl.

Positives: Has size, speed and flashes athletic ability. Huge wingspan with long 34¼-inch arms and 10¾-inch hands. Is a 350-pound bench presser. Rare size to go with his jumping ability. Exceptional timed speed.

Negatives: Needs more reps. Has no concentration, focus or attention to detail. Inconsistent hands. Upright runner who doesn't drop weight in his breaks and plays to speed. Immature. Lacks confidence. Insecure. Lacks football intelligence and experience. Tentative, rounds routes and gets outfought for the ball. Must learn to take the ball away from defensive backs. Questionable toughness. Has prima donna attitude. Is not prepared or focused. All legs. Lacks confidence in his hands.

Summary: Excellent measurables with great size and can really run, but keeping him healthy is a major concern, and he is still very raw and needs to refine his talent.
