Ryan Hoag

WR | (6-2, 200, 4.5) | Gustavus Adolphus
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played one year of high school football. Went to Wake Forest to play soccer in 1998 and then transferred to Gustavus for a chance to play football. Didn't catch a pass in '99. Caught 34 passes for 548 yards and five touchdowns in 2000; 54-786-14 in '01; and 56-808-10 in '02.

Positives: Smart, competitive, size-speed guy who is starting to develop into a football player. Has legitimate deep speed and reportedly has run the 100 meters in under 10.6 seconds and the 200 in 21.8. Also ran a 6.4-second 55-meter dash indoors. At this level, competes for the ball in traffic and can turn on the jets to run by people. Good leaper. Has 38-inch vertical jump. Ran 6.72-second three-cone, tying Tyrone Calico for the best time at the Combine.

Negatives: Very limited football background. Still very raw and needs route refinement, strength work and work on blocking. Really does not know how to run routes or how to set up the defensive back. Caliber of competition is a major concern.

Summary: Would be an interesting free agent but is probably too far down the list to be drafted.
