Clinton "c.j." Jones
WR | (5-10, 200, 4.56) | Iowa
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Cousin of Iowa QB Brad Banks. Transferred from Garden City Community Junior College (Kan.), where he also ran track. Caught 34 passes for 434 yards and one touchdown in 2001, when he also returned 12 kickoffs for 237 yards and six punts for 164 yards with one touchdown. Suspended for the '01 Alamo Bowl after being charged with driving while intoxicated. In '02, he caught 38-468-9 and returned 19 kickoffs 506 yards (26.6 avg.) with one TD. That one score was the opening kickoff of the Orange Bowl, which he returned 100 yards, making it the longest kick return in Orange Bowl history. Positives: More quick than fast but adjusts very well to the ball. Negatives: Doesn't have great size or speed. Not real fast. Gets bumped off routes easily and cannot beat press coverage most of the time. Needs more reps. Hasn't proven that he can take a hit and hold onto the ball as a receiver or return man.Summary: May receive late-round consideration because of his return ability.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
