Jerel Myers

WR | (5-10, 180, 4.56) | LSU
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: High school baseball player and track man who played quarterback, defensive back and wide receiver in football. Started 11 games as a freshman in 1999, catching a team-best 64 passes for 854 yards and two touchdowns and winning freshman All-America honors. Played second fiddle to Josh Reed in 2000 and '01 but kept a starting job. Caught 29-347-3 in 2000 and 39-461-1 in '01. Was third on the team with 17-181-0 in '02.

Positives: Has good durability and a great work ethic. More quick than fast player who has good hands. Great courage for his size. Will catch in heavy traffic and go after defenders when blocking. Has some elusiveness and make-you-miss ability.

Negatives: Limited by size, speed and lack of explosiveness into and out of his cuts to separate. Is too thin and lacking in lower body. Rarely runs by press coverage and has limited overall athletic ability. Became less productive every year.

Summary: Flashes skills but lacks ideal size and is more of a priority free-agent type.
