MCCABE'S SEVENTH OVERTIME GOAL LIFTS FLORIDA
Bryan McCabe's goal at the 40-second mark of overtime earned Florida a 2-1 victory in Detroit on Friday night. It was only the second win for the Panthers at Joe Louis Arena; the first came nearly 13 years ago (Dec. 1, 1996). McCabe's overtime goal was the seventh of his career, tying him with Brian Leetch and Tomas Kaberle for second-most among defenseman since the five-minute OT period was introduced in 1983. The leader in overtime goals among defensemen is Scott Niedermayer, who got his 13th extra-time goal on Thursday night against the Lightning.
