Elias Says...
ISLANDERS ALLOW 61 SHOTS AND WIN
The Islanders were outshot, 61-21, in Toronto but they escaped with a 4-3 victory after blowing a 3-0 lead thanks to a heroic effort by goaltender Dwayne Roloson and an overtime goal by Josh Bailey. The Maple Leafs' failure to win despite their shot barrage isn't that suprising given recent history. Since 1981, there have been ten instances of an NHL team recording 60 or more shots on goal in a game, yet in only three of those ten games did the team with 60-plus shots end up a winner (3 regulation losses, 3 ties, 1 overtime loss).
