Penguins, LeClair agree to mutual release
PITTSBURGH -- Veteran left winger John LeClair was released by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
The former 50-goal scorer and Penguins general manager Ray Shero came to an agreement in which the club would not be responsible for the remainder of his $1.5 million salary.
The deal allows the Penguins to save money, while the two-time U.S. Olympian avoids the embarrassment of a suspension.
