Myers wins Calder Trophy
LAS VEGAS -- Buffalo Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers won the Calder Trophy as the NHL rookie of the year.
Myers won the award Wednesday at the NHL Awards ceremony, edging finalists Colorado Avalanche center Matt Duchene and Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard.
Myers was one of four rookies to play all 82 games. He led the Sabres and all rookies by logging nearly 24 minutes of ice time per game. He was also first among rookies with 137 blocked shots and third with 48 points.
