Levy and Melrose: Stanley Cup playoffs are the best (2:21)

SportsCenter @SportsCenter

Rangers are just the third team in Stanley Cup Playoff history to win 4 games in a series scoring 2 or fewer goals in each of them.

Today's Stanley Cup action

Three teams -- the Caps, Blackhawks and Flames -- can punch their ticket to the second round with wins tonight.

  • Caps vs. Isles, 3 p.m. (Caps up 3-2)
  • Red Wings vs. Lightning, 6 p.m. (Tied 2-2)
  • Preds vs. Blackhawks, 8 p.m. (Hawks up 3-2)
  • Canucks vs. Flames, 9 p.m. (Flames up 3-2)

Helpful NHL tip: Try to win in Game 6

Five teams are currently up 3-2 in their first-round series, including three who play tonight. Historically, 78% of the leading teams have won the series. It's much preferred to finish the series off in six games though -- Game 7 is a virtual coin flip.

What's next for Rangers & Penguins

The Rangers will play the winner of the Islanders-Capitals series in the next round. But more questions remain for the Penguins. Since winning the Stanley Cup in 2009, they have been eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round in five of the last six seasons.
