Columbus Blue Jackets: Left wing Geoff Sanderson bruised his left shoulder in a scrimmage and is out two to three weeks.

Sanderson, who led the team with 34 goals last season, was injured in a collision with defenseman Kristian Tollefsen on Monday.

An MRI exam Tuesday showed no broken bones.

Sanderson totaled 67 points playing on the Blue Jackets' top line.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Amid predictions that Hurricane Isabel could hit the state with soaking rains and heavy winds, the Penguins postponed Thursday night's NHL preseason game with the Washington Capitals.

The game, to be played in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., has been pushed back to Sunday.

The Penguins are still scheduled to play the New York Islanders on Friday night in Wheeling, W.Va.

Roster changes: Pittsburgh trimmed its training camp roster to 51 by reassigning seven players to junior or minor league teams.

Forwards Stephen Dixon, Jonathan Filewich, Daniel Carcillo, Maxime Talbot and Ryan Stone, and defenseman Lukas Bolf were reassigned to their major junior teams.

Forward Jim Abbott was assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton training camp in the AHL.
