ATLANTA -- Center Marc Savard, who just returned to the Atlanta Thrashers' lineup, left Wednesday night's game against the Canadiens after spraining his right knee.

He was hurt during the second period, apparently in a knee-to-knee collision with Montreal defenseman Michael Komisarek.

Savard missed the previous three games because of a concussion and sat out nine games in November after injuring his ankle.

Despite having played in only 32 games, he is the team's second-leading scorer, with 15 goals and 26 assists.

Team officials described the injury as a Grade One or Two sprain of the medial collateral ligament. Grade Three is the most serious.

Savard will be re-evaluated Thursday. It isn't known yet whether he'll miss any additional games.
