ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild traded center Darby Hendrickson to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday for a 2005 fourth-round draft pick.

The Wild also sent their eighth-round pick this year to the Avalanche.

Hendrickson, an original member of the Wild, scored one goal in 14 games before being reassigned to Houston of the AHL on Dec. 19.

In 31 games with the Aeros, Hendrickson had nine points and was a minus-14.

Hendrickson had 29 goals and 31 assists in 182 games with the Wild since they selected him in the 2000 expansion draft.

Also Wednesday, the Wild recalled goaltender Johan Holmqvist from AHL Houston to back up starter Manny Fernandez.

Fernandez is expected to start for Minnesota against Nashville and Dallas this week in place of Dwayne Roloson, whose father died Monday of a stomach aneurysm. Roloson traveled to his hometown of Simcoe, Ontario, on Tuesday to make funeral arrangements.

Holmqvist has a 17-24-6 record with a 2.64 goals-against average in 49 games for the Aeros this season. He ranks second in the AHL with 1,191 saves. Holmqvist has appeared in four career NHL games with the New York Rangers, going 0-3.

The last-place Wild play at Nashville on Thursday night before traveling to play the Stars on Friday.
