Montreal Canadiens forward Saku Koivu has agreed to play for TPS Turku of the Finnish Elite League, according to Czech newspaper CTS. The club's official Web site confirmed the signing.

The newspaper reported that Koivu will join his hometown team once he has recovered from a wrist injury.

Over 200 NHL players are playing in Europe while the league is in a work stoppage.

Koivu had three goals and an assist in six games for Finland in last summer's World Cup of Hockey. The 29-year-old has scored 120 goals and added 278 assists in 497 games with Montreal.
